Synopsis:
Set in the political snakes nest of Elizabethan England, Anonymous speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brightest minds from Mark Twain and Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud, this is who was the author of the plays attributed to William Shakespeare? Experts have debated, have written many books and scholars have devoted their lives to protect or discredit theories about the authorship of the most famous works of English literature. Anonymous presents a possible answer, focusing on a time when political intrigue, swashbuckling, illicit romances of the Royal Court, and the collusion of greedy nobles hungry for the power of the throne, were set to open in the most improbable: the London stage.
