“Water for Elephants’: If not convinced, come and see”no”

WATER FOR ELEPHANTSBefore seeing Water for Elephants, the viewer must have two things: the scene where the movie is a circus (with all the good and bad that implies) and its main actor is Robert Pattinson. If these two points are second to none for you, do not choose this movie. But if ideologically is able to overcome that barrier, welcome. “Come and see.” Jacob (Robert Pattinson) has to leave precipitously veterinary studies and eventually enrolling in a traveling circus troupe. He meets the star of the show, Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), which is love. But will have to deal with her husband and the circus owner, August (Christoph Waltz).

Such films have a purpose: to appeal to the depths of emotion and, if strained, raise a tear. When the film is proposed that and it’s all in the pursuit of this goal, you can go right or wrong. The problem that goes wrong is that the film manages to fall under its own weight and not convincing. And yet the story is based on the bestseller by Sara Gruen and adapted by Richard LaGravenese. This well may seem a stranger, but if I name The Bridges of Madison County, things change. But do not get excited, it’s the talk now does not even reach the soles of shoes.

If there is someone who stands out above all others and that deserve to be mentioned is Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds. (What it seems that things get better? Not get excited). His role here is one of those bad people, of what you think: “by God to spend all that he is doing.” No point in going: animal abuse, women and contempt for others. Really suffer when it appears that character, but at the time you read “The End”, I love to have at hand, shake hands and say, “you left me speechless.” He has a force capable of pulling everyone else.

As for young Robert Pattinson must be said that the boy is working. In fact, there are some scenes that completely forget where we met him and saw him for the first time. But immediately afterwards, brings the smile feature profile and lose all the charm (although his fans melt at the time). Not that this is a bad actor, it still has much to learn. Lacks vitality and empathize with your partner know, in this case Reesse Witherspoon, a young lady who is crying, but not hear it, someone to rescue her from that life he never wanted to live.
The movie has more failures than successes. Beginning because it lasts a little over two hours to tell a story can be told in less. We followed the fact that he has little time looking for true, as I said earlier, to move, show that love between the couple, but they are mere feints to get everything to be very predictable. And see that there are bad things, but a film over two hours is entirely predictable, makes it eternal. The director, Francis Lawrence, known for his work in music videos for Will Smith or Britney Spears could have used their knowledge to lighten the story, but to no avail. Even, on occasion, you realize that what you see, is forced and no consistency.

But that does not appear that there is nothing good. Besides the aforementioned work of Christoph Waltz, will enjoy the elephant character. A charming animal, a link between the two protagonists, for whom this story makes sense.
